Bus to Rostock

The port in this German city on the Baltic Sea coast has always been the target of numerous ships and sea travels. Due to its favourable location, in the Middle Ages the town had already become a major trading centre and a member of the Hanseatic League, a significant association of traders between the 12th and the 17th century.

Warnemünde, which is located just outside the city limits, is Germany's largest cruise port today. Here you will find sun-worshippers on a 100-feet-wide sandy beach, where the beach basket typical for the Baltic Sea shores was supposedly created. The historic centre of Rostock features Gothic brick buildings with a Hanseatic flair. A special events highlight is Hanse Sail, which is one of the largest maritime festivals in Europe. Every year over a million visitors admire the 300 vessels, including traditional sailing boats, cruise ships and ferries.
