Berlin has everything to offer the curious ones whether you are interested in sports, architechture, the arts or just want to inhale the city.

 

Since the fall of the wall in 1989, Berlin has undergone a true metamorphosis especially around the Reichstag, where along the river Spree an amazing new district has risen from barren land; this area now features breathtaking architechtural masterpieces. The best way to get a good impression of it all is to go on one of the various river tours, many of which depart from the Museum Insel.

 

In the area around Alexander Platz one can still find some of the old Ossie atmosphere dilapidated stores, and bars that are open 24/7, smoke-filled, roaring and noisy. And right alongside these quaint reminiscents, there are fashionable brand-stores. But moving a little north the Prenzlauer Berg area is right now becoming one of the new hot in-places to visit and to live; galleries, coffeeshops and ice-cream cafs have become the rendez-vous places for students and artists as well as tourists and the local citizens.

 

Along the river Spree you find the Hackesches Hof Theater which came into fame in the 1920s through especially Bertolt Brecht, Lotta Lenya and Kurt Weill.

 

Ultimately, Berlin is of course famous for its annual Autumn Marathon in September. A little less famous for its half-marathon in the early Spring.

 

So whatever you desire, Berlin has it!
